While it is considered a goal for people to someday build their own homes, some are having a hard time making this dream come to life. However, that is not a problem for this 26-year-old girl from South Africa.
She simply did all the construction work for her dream home. This girl named Zama Philisiwe Zungu from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa who was a civil engineer in profession literally did not need anyone’s help for her dream home to come to life instead, she did all the work by herself.
Zama’s home-building photos quickly spread online. These pics show her preparing cement mixture and attaching and piling hollow blocks for her home. The said photos gained praise especially that it is rare for a woman to do such because this job is often done by men.
According to her, she gained her passion for construction because of her father who was a carpenter. This is also what urged her to take civil engineering when she enrolled at Umgungundlovu TVET College.
She also said that although she still has no experience in being hands-on to a construction job, her practical exams during her college days gave her the courage that she can pull off making her own home.
Zama also desires to build her own construction company soon and continue to empower women in the field of engineering.
Because of what she did, she now serves as an inspiration for many people, not just the young ones but also her fellow independent women.
